Review Animations is Emil Kowalski's code review skill for motion, and it reviews nothing else. It measures every animation in a change against ten standards: whether the motion is justified and suits how often it is seen, easing, staying under 300ms, the right transform origin, interruptibility, animating only transform and opacity, and reduced motion. Its default is to flag; approval has to be earned. It only runs when you call it, so it never fires on its own.

How to install Review Animations
Claude Code
For Claude Code in the terminal, the desktop app or your editor.
With the skills CLI · recommended
- Run this in your terminal. It installs the skill for every project; leave out -g to install it for the current project only.
By hand
- Copy the skill's folder into your skills folder, keeping its name:
- For one project only, use .claude/skills/ inside the project instead.
Using it: This skill does not load on its own: its author set it to run only when called. Start your message with /review-animations.

Claude app
For claude.ai and the Claude desktop app, on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans.
- Turn on code execution: Settings → Capabilities → “Code execution and file creation”. On Team and Enterprise an owner enables skills for the organization first.
- Download the repository as a ZIP from GitHub (Code → Download ZIP) and unzip it.
- Take out the “skills/review-animations” folder and zip that folder on its own. The folder name must stay “review-animations”.
- In Claude, open Customize → Skills, click +, choose “Create skill”, then “Upload a skill”, and pick the ZIP.
Using it: Its author set this skill to run only when called, so ask for it by name, for example: “Use the Review Animations skill to…”.

With the skills CLI · recommended
- Run this in your terminal. It installs the skill for every project; leave out -g for the current project only.
With Codex's installer
- Ask Codex's built-in installer to fetch it:
By hand
- Copy the skill's folder into your skills folder, keeping its name:
- For one repository only, use .agents/skills/ inside it. Restart Codex if the skill does not show up.
Using it: Its author set this skill to run only when called, so mention $review-animations or choose it from /skills.

Other AI tools
Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, OpenCode and other agents that read the Agent Skills format - plus any chat model.
Coding agents · recommended
- Run this in your terminal. The CLI finds the agents you have installed and asks which ones to add the skill to.
Any chat model
- A model with no skill support can still follow one. Open the skill's SKILL.md, copy everything below the --- block at the top, and paste it into the model's custom instructions or at the start of your chat.
Using it: Its author set this skill to run only when called, so in an agent, ask for it by name. In a chat, it applies to the conversation you pasted it into.

Read the skill before you install it: its SKILL.md on GitHub. A skill is instructions your agent follows, so treat a third-party one like code you are about to run.
Prompts to try
Once the skill is installed, ask for any of these. Click one to copy it.
